Studio Chilap consists of three retired friends from Hong Kong who share a passion for making fine miniatures. We began working together in 2017 to develop a series of layout modules for 1:32 model trains. Our first public exhibition took place November 2019. CHENG Chi Lap, the Craftsman
Chilap started his carreer as a carpenter apprentice. Over the decades he had been a carpenter, a construction contractor, manufacturing consultant, remote-controlled aircraft developer, RC aircraft factory owner, and developer of multirotor drones. Before his retirement, he was the owner of a company in mainland China producing balsa and fiberglass remote controlled aircraft, such as Cessnas, P-51s and Catalinas. At Studio Chilap, he does all the CAD design, materials and assembly.
Andrew LEE, the Engineer and the Brains
Andrew is an electronic engineer and operates an independent product development company during the day. He is also an enthusiast in aviation, RC models, flight simulators, and general mechanical design. He is the man behind those ingenious couplers on that EL-16.
Leo CHEUNG, the Painter and Customer Representative
A fan of miniatures of all kinds, from aircraft to trains and steam engines, I am the one who is responsible for research, finishing and painting of the models.
